PLAN C PRESENTS "NOCTAMBULATIONS", AN EXHIBITION BY YELENA YEMCHUK
Plan C celebrates its link with the art world with a special exhibition unveiled during Milan Fashion Week. The Italian luxury brand’s showroom hosted “Noctambulations”, an exclusive showcase of artworks specifically created by New York-based artist Yelena Yemchuk.
Born in Ukraine, Yemchuk moved with her family to the United States at 11 where she then studied Art at the Parsons in New York and Photography at Pasadena’s Art Center. As a multifaceted artist, she communicates through painting, photography and film making with her signature style: surrealist atmospheres meet both nostalgic and humorous scenarios.
In "Noctambulations" Yemchuk, who had previously lensed Plan C's Spring Summer 2024 lookbook, explored the art of collaging by developing 12 different artworks, six of which are images shot for Plan C's lookbook.
"For me, collaging is an attempt at an unconscious act. I’m interested in removing intellect - images are compiled and created by liberated instinct. When I’m successful, making a collage is ethereal, volatile, like a dream,” Yemchuk comments.
“It’s been extremely inspiring working with Yelena on both the Spring Summer 2024 lookbook and the exhibition” says Plan C Creative Director Carolina Castiglioni. “I’m a huge fan of her work and I think that she perfectly captured the essence of Plan C, making our creations part of a beautiful artistic concept.”
